What Are You Looking At?

By Rory Synoground

James 1:25

"But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man is blessed in his deed."

Many times in praying for individuals who are being afflicted with some aliment, or sickness, I'll bring a mirror. Not a physical glass mirror, but the mirror of the Word of God. The reason I bring this mirror, is because the very individual I am trying to assist in receiving their healing, have become so preoccupied with the sickness or pain that is plaguing them, that they have either forgotten, or did not really know who, or what they are. As I minister to them, I'll begin to present to them what the Word of God has declared about them. I'll begin painting a living picture of the healing that God has ALREADY given them. I'll attempt to do what James instructed us to do, and that is to bring the Perfect Law of Liberty before their eyes, and help them see who they really are, THE HEALED! As a result of getting people unoccupied with their symptoms, feelings, and sicknesses, we are able to help them to receive, and walk in their healing.

The word LOOK here in James, means; "to bend over and peer into, to get a better look." When you begin to peer into the Word of God, you'll begin to see yourself as a person who has been healed, delivered from pain, and made FREE! You'll begin to see an image of health instead of sickness and pain. Isaiah 53:3-5 & 1 Peter 2:24 tell us that God has already healed us. Colossians 1:13 says that God had already delivered us from the power of darkness. 2 Peter 1:3 proclaims that God has given us ALL THINGS that pertain to life, and godliness. In Luke 10:19 Jesus Himself declares that He has given us authority over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us. Glory to God, are you beginning to see your reflection of total and complete healing? James is telling us to look at this mirror, the Perfect Law of Liberty, the Word of God, and not to be looking at the deception of sickness. We are to be looking, being preoccupied, impacted and influenced by the Word of God alone, instead of our feelings. Are you occupied with the feelings of sickness, or are you being occupied with 1 Peter 2:24 which declares that, "By His stripes ye WERE healed." James 1:25 says "But whoso looketh. . . this man is blessed in his deed." This is one of the requirements that God has established in His Word to receiving, and walking in health. You see, being occupied and influenced by our feelings of pain, or the symptoms of sickness is actually reversing the condition, which God requires for us to receive our healing. By being occupied by what you feel, we are actually establishing and reinforcing the condition the devil has us in. We will become bound, limited, and restrained by the deception of the devil. If one stays in this position long enough, one could literally walk into death, by refusing to look into the PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY! Romans 6:18 declares to us that we ARE FREE! Free from sickness, and liberated from pain, Glory to God! We don't have to stay bound one more day by the deception of the devil, if we would begin looking at the liberating mirror of the Word of God. We need to imitate our Father Abraham, and refuse to consider our own bodies, and begin waxing strong in faith LOOKING unto the promises of God! This word "LOOK" can also mean to consider. We read in Hebrews 11:11 where Sarah ". . .considered God, Who had given her the promise, to be reliable and trustworthy and true to His Word." (Amp) Instead of considering her age, she received faith by considering the Word of God. In Numbers 21:8 we read an account where thousands of Israelites were dying, because of snakes that had bitten them. So Moses, under the direction of God, set up a brass serpent on a pole before the people. In verse 8 we read, "and it shall come to pass, that everyone that is bitten, when he LOOKETH upon it, shall live." Notice the condition was, "everyone who LOOKETH shall live." No one was to receive healing, except on the condition that they must LOOK at the brass serpent, which is a type of Christ. The serpent represents the curse of the law (SICKNESS). In Galatians 3:13 we read where; "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law (sickness), being made a curse for us, for it is written, cursed is everyone who hangeth on a tree." The word LOOKETH here in Numbers 21:8 infers a continual stare. They were not to just glance at the serpent; they were to continually stare at it until they were well. The same is true today. The healing process is completed as we, not only begin to look into the Perfect Law of Liberty, but to stay looking at the promises, with a steadfast faith, until we are experiencing health! Begin looking at the right mirror. Change your focus from the deception of sickness, to the reality of healing. Walk in the freedom of divine health by looking into the Perfect Law Liberty today!
