HIS LIFE NOW

“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ;” (Ephesians 4:17-20)

God’s Word here is exhorting us to live our life differently from the world.

First of all the word “walk” here is simply referring to your way of living or your behavior. Your behavior is a direct result of the choices you make. It is the result of what you believe.

Is God interested in how you live and what you experience in this life? You bet He is. His desire is for you to live your life to the fullest, to experience the full manifestation of His blessing in your family, finances, body, relationships, etc.

The first thing you need to realize, is what you believe and do has an impact on how much you experience His blessing at work in your life.

We will see that it is not God’s desire to withhold His blessing from you. We will find out that it is what we believe and how we live which determines the magnitude of His blessing.

Look at this word “Gentiles” It simply means unbeliever. A Gentile is someone who is outside the covenant of God, a non believer, it is someone who has not believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and received his place as a child of God in the Kingdom of God.

Now He goes on to reveal that the unbeliever lives their life in the vanity of their mind.

The word “Vanity” here means: worthless thoughts, pride. It also means emptiness, or vain. “Vanity” here can also mean; “futility or emptiness to be empty – to be void of something."

You see the unbeliever is living their lives based on a mind that is void of something; as a result it is now filled with worthless, futile thoughts. These worthless thoughts are literally empty or void of Gods power, life, and ability. The nonbeliever is in all reality, making life decisions based an empty, ignorant mind.

I don’t’ care how much education you have received, or how many degrees you have earned, if you have not filled your mind with what it needs, you are empty, and this is a very dangerous position to be in.

Look at what happens as a result of having a vain mind. “ …Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart..”

First your understanding becomes darkened. This means you will not clearly and successfully understand things. Secondly since your ability to properly assess a situation is hindered, you are now unable to perceive things correctly, thus your heart is blinded.

Being in this condition literally separates you from the life of God.

This is not Gods will. You were not created to live without the life of God, a life that is full of His supernatural, overcoming, miracle working power, His very nature, being integrated into your very being, causing you to walk in dominion over the authority of darkness and the elements of this world.

Jesus said in John 10:10; “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

God saw our condition; He knew that man was alienated from His life. This is why He sent Jesus. Jesus came to connect us back to the life of God. He wants to begin filling our hearts and minds, so that we can begin experiencing His life now.
