INHERITING THE PROMISES OF GOD

 “That you be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises." (Hebrews 6:12)

The Bible plainly says here that we inherit PROMISES.

Promises meaning many, not just one promise.  When we start talking about the promises of God, we are talking about all 3573 of them. Think about that for a moment. God has made over 3000 promises. And according to Hebrews they are for you and I to inherit.

Look at 2 Corinthians 1:19-20;

“For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes" and “No", but in Him it has always been “Yes".  For no matter how many promises God has made, they  are “Yes" in Christ.  And so through Him the Amen is spoken by us to the glory of God."

THEY (the promises of God) ARE YES IN CHRIST!  PRAISE THE LORD!

So when you come across a promise in the Bible like Philippians 4:19 which says; “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in Glory.” , we can understand that this promises is not just for a chosen few, it is for everyone, and it is already a Yes in Christ Jesus.

We don’t have to wonder if God is going to do it. We don’t have to wonder if He will supply our need? We don’t have to wonder, “Did I screw up enough to where He won’t do it this time?"

Thats the great news.  These promises of God are not conditional.  They are freely given to us through Christ Jesus.

Many people have the wrong perception when it comes to the purpose of Gods promises.  Since they don’t understand the reason for God giving us these promises, they think that it is not right to ask, much less expect God to fulfill His promise of meeting our need. Especially if we haven’t earned it somehow.

Thats why when someone is going through a financial difficulty, the devil works hard on us to think like the rest of the world does; “What did they do for this to happen?” “Whats wrong with them.”

And the whole time God is pointing them out to you and I, so he can move through us to fulfill His promise to them.

More often then not, we sit there religiously and do nothing. We limit Gods unconditional love, and His mercy because we judge that person as not good enough to receive any good thing.

And this is the very opportunity where God wanted to help both you and that person in need. But we limit Gods Blessing in our life just like they did,  all because we had a misunderstanding of the purpose of Gods promises.

You see God has given us His promises to change our life from lack, sickness and bondage, to  abundance, heath and freedom!

Look at 2 Peter 1:4 “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

The purpose of Gods promises are to change your situation around. To give you a way of escape from the moral decay, rottenness, and corruption that is in the world because of lust and greed.

Jesus Christ already paid the price for these promises to be freely offered to you and I .  When we receive these promises, His divine nature goes to work and begins producing these promises in our lives.

It’s the goodness of God that leads us to repentance.  Turn towards Him today, begin finding out what He has promised you, and begin seeing your life, and the lives of those around you, changing to the glory of God.
